The past year saw a host of exciting external and internal changes at Tempco. Our supply chain challenges began to subside, and we were able to get lead times back down to pre-COVID levels. It looks like the new normal will be a state of near constant fluctuation, so we are making investments that allow us to respond faster to market conditions without affecting production.

Our philosophy is to be vertically integrated when possible. Tempco strives to provide high quality, custom heaters in small- to mid-sized volumes that are customized to customer needs and applications. As such, we rely on our skilled shop employees to not only create and assemble our electric heating elements and heaters, but to perform the value-added work that sets us apart from our competitors. Tempco also carries a large inventory of specialized components so that any combination of heater, attachment and termination method can be readily designed and fabricated to meet not only our own high-quality standards, but to also meet ISO-9001 standards and a variety of agency approvals.
 

While 2023 saw us managing a large backlog of demand, Tempco was still able to make many important updates to our production systems and physical plant that focus on our cast-in department, including:

• Replacing the brass/bronze furnaces in our casting area for improved production speed and better energy efficiency. Our high temperature, cast-in heaters have continued to see double digit growth, and the investment was made to keep up with demand with the added benefit of higher quality cast-in thermal components.
• Adding several new Haas Centers to Tempco’s machine shop, thereby expanding capabilities for the growing variety of geometries and tolerances we are challenged with in the cast-in department. This makes 12 new machining centers added in the past four years and gives Tempco unprecedented control over your final products.
• Adding more prep lines and improved product flow to the cast-in department to keep up with demand in this ever-growing area.

Manufacturing isn’t the only area that had our attention last year. Tempco invested in our auxiliary space by upgrading the locker room for our 400+ shop employees. This included new flooring, walls, lockers and lighting that improve the aesthetics and make the area more functional. Additionally, Tempco continues to evaluate our IT systems to simplify order processes, refine designs and communicate order status faster than ever before, again with the goal of reducing lead times but maintaining quality.

Many important updates came to fruition in 2023 at Tempco Electric Heater Corporation, while others are still in progress. The continuous improvement that we invest in strengthens the foundation of our quality products and excellent customer service that we offer to all industries such as plastics, packaging, food and beverage, energy, medical and transportation to name a few.
