Tempco’s cable heaters and coil heaters are used in various industries and in diverse applications. A coil heater was designed and manufactured for a 3D printer manufacturer. The heater is installed to heat the extruder of the printer to melt plastic. The heater consists of a small coil heater with the following specifications:

• Inconel 600 sheath
• internal type “K” thermocouple
• assembled in a stainless steel cylindrical housing with a 6MM threaded insert
• housing diameter: 0.69"
• housing width: 0.45"

The most significant and unique features of this high-performance heater are:

• its small size
• its high temperature capability
• the integration of a temperature sensor within the heater that eliminates the need for an external sensor to reduce cost.
